ULTIMODE Home System - applications and diagrams
ULTIMODE Home System is a solution for subscriber networks in homes and offices, based on polymer optical fibers (POF - Plastic Optical Fiber). A complete range of devices enables every subscriber to get access to high quality network services such as broadband Internet, video streaming, VOD, video conferencing. The solutions based on plastic optical fibers are much more flexible, can be successfully installed and reconfigured by the end users. In addition, the wavelength at which the systems operate is within the spectrum of visible light, 650 nm, which enables easy control of the operational state. Thanks to low power and concentration, the light is completely safe. POF fibers are not as brittle as glass fibers, are more bendable and resistant to damage.

How to terminate fiber with ULTIMODE FAST connectors
ULTIMODE FAST quick assembly connectors allow fiber termination with SC connectors without time-consuming gluing and polishing. The procedure does no require "sterile" conditions, because the end face of the built-in fiber fragment has been glued and polished by the manufacturer. The low loss at the level of 0.25 dB is obtained thanks to advanced positioning of the inserted fiber end by V-shaped grooves. The optical gel that is also used in the connectors reduces the effects of an imprecise cut and a possible gap between the end faces of the fibers.

Do they follow the Google's way? At CES 2012 in Las Vegas (January 10-13, 2012), some companies presented for the first time a new generation of televisions equipped with operating systems - this is another step to the interactive TV (iTV) which makes TVs similar to computers. It becomes close to the vision of Steve Jobs that future televisions will have the functionality of iPads, but diagonal size of a home theater. TVs with their own operating systems - it is the platform required for Internet-based interactive television planned by Google and Apple. Because Apple was not in the fair, there was no TV with iOS, but the demonstration of such a device is a matter of a short time. A concept of interactive television based on Ubuntu Linux OS was shown by Canonical company. The launch of the Canonical's system means that in the emerging market of interactive television, aside from Google and Apple, there is a place for independent players using Linux systems. However, for many observers the fair was a test whether the TV industry would support the concept of Google TV with new hardware solutions. The result of the test was a qualified success, e.g. Lenovo, a known manufacturer of computers, presented its K91 television run by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
