RouterBoard 711 uses MikroTik system. 400 MHz CPU and large RAM capacity (32 MB) ensure high computing power needed for creating high-capacity wireless network backbones. Cheaper SOHO devices usually have RAM capacity up to 16 MB, which is not sufficient for network backbone but suitable only for wireless access networks.
MikroTik operating system based on Linux is designed for professional network applications. It allows the creation of advanced network systems with static or dynamic routing. Thanks to advanced firewall features and queuing algorithms it enables the user to manage Internet bandwidth in a simple way.
