TL-WR841N combines access point, broadband router (for XDSL or cable modem), and 4-port FastEthernet switch.

TP-Link TL-WR841N is a wireless router, i.e. it integrates router, firewall, and access point. Main applications include Internet accesses in small and medium size businesses, SOHO, and homes. The device enables the user to create a wireless network and share the Internet connection - quickly and easily. The built-in firewall additionally protects the network.
Protection of the network also includes:
  • SSID broadcast disable function, limiting the stations to those which use the unique identifier,
  • 64/128/152-bit encryption: WEP, WPA/WPA2 or WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK and TKIP/AES,
  • QSS (Quick Secure Setup).
The distinctive feature of the TL-WR841N wireless router is implementation of IEEE802.11n (draft 2.0) standard, which allows to transmit data up to 300 Mbps. The device is fully compatible with standard IEEE802.11b/g devices.
TL-WR841N ensures advanced access control and NAT, its DHCP server supports static assignment of IP addresses. It also enables supporting virtual servers, DMZ zone, remote logging and management.
Other functions that improve security:
  • access control based on MAC addresses
  • IP, domain and MAC filtering
  • support of UPnP, Dynamic DNS, static routing, VPN pass-through
  • statistics of the traffic generated by computers in the network
  • ICMP-FLOOD, UDP-FLOOD, TCP-SYN-FLOOD filters
  • blockade of ping requests for WAN and LAN interfaces
  • possibility of firmware upgrade
Additional advantage of the device is easy configuration and management.
