Kabel je určen pro použití v instalacích WLAN pracujících na 2.4GHz a 5GHz. Při jeho použití v 2.4GHz systémech, je v budoucnosti možná jejich změna na 5GHz bez potíží s výměnou kabeláže. Plášť je vyroben z polyetylénu, který je odolný proti UV. Tri-Lan 240 je proto vhodný k venkovnímu použití.
